Sip your favorite beverage and have fun painting a piece inspired by an example work of art. You will receive easy step-by-step instructions and personal attention from the instructor. No experience required!
Show up with a bottle of your favorite wine or other beverage (and snacks if you like) and leave with your very own work of art.
$30 per person.

A Little History: Halloween 2019 (also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows’ Eve, or All Saints’ Eve) occurs on the day before All Saints Day. It is a day that is dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed. Halloween is celebrated annually on October 31 in the United States and throughout the world. It is “widely believed” that Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic harvest festival, Samhain, and that this Gaelic observance was Christianized by the early Church. It is believed that the celebration of Halloween only made its way to the United States in the 19th Century by immigrants from Scotland and Ireland. The commercialization of Halloween (as we know it today) began in the 1900s, when postcards and die-cut paper decorations were produced. Halloween costumes started to appear in stores in the 1930s and the custom of ‘trick-or-treat’ appeared in the 1950s.

It is Freedom House’s 4th Birthday and we are celebrating this year by holding a 5K run/walk!!
Saturday, October 31, at Federated Fellowship, 309 Roosevelt Rd, Pella, Iowa 50219
Registration is from 7:45-8:45 am
Race begins at 9:00 a.m.
Before September 15th- $20: Students, $25: Adults, $70: Family (Immediate/Same Household)
September 16-October 16th fees increase $5. After Oct 16th, fees increase $10.
T-shirts guaranteed if signed up by Oct 16th.
Please consider and pray about being a sponsor for this event to help fund our mission of creating a place of refuge for girls who have been exploited and to provide wholistic restoration and freedom in Jesus Christ. Would you partner with us for this important mission? Once the home is at full capacity (4 girls) our monthly expenses will be $25,000. Our goal is to raise one month’s expenses. Sponsors will be recognized on our shirts ($100+) and various places along the race route. Donations are sought in the following categories:

Nelson Pioneer Farm Mahaska County Historical Society, will hold two Drive-Thru Haunted Village event on Saturday, October 31: The first from 2 to 4 p.m. for younger audiences and the second 4:30 to 6 for older youth and a few more scarier components. Price is free. Actors from the Oskaloosa Community Theatre and the Oskaloosa High School Thespian Troope 228 will be performing pantomimes outside several of the farm’s historic buildings. Sunny Slope Greenhouse is holding a Spooky Good Scavenger Hunt this Halloween for children. Take a fun walk around the yard, find 12 items, some of which are prizes, and collect a prize when you’re done! 2$ per child; all children must be accompanied by an adult. The event will run until 7 p.m. or until all the goodies run out.
