    IGNITE Youth Group of the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa will be having a Pancake Breakfast on Memorial Day, May 27 from 7 to 10 am. The community is invited to enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, sausages, cinnamon rolls, fruit and drink. An opportunity to give a free-will offering will be presented. First Christian Reformed Church is located at 815 N 11th Street, just south of Forest Cemetery where morning festivities will also be held for the community. Click for event info.

    The OWLS (Older, Wiser, Learning Seniors) is a new group program with MCCB and is designed for senior learners with an interest in environmental science and conservation topics. Programs are presented monthly by the MCCB Naturalist and guest speakers. The programs will be held on the lower level of the Environmental Learning Center, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    May 29: “The Mahaska Mammoths”~ Presenter, Laura DeCook MCCB Naturalist. Are you curious about the Woolly Mammoths that once wandered around Mahaska County? Bring a lunch (and a friend) and learn all about these giant mammals and what the Ice Age could have been like.

    The Mahaska County Extension office is hosting  “What’s Up Wednesdays” every Wednesday this spring  (March – May). These informal conversations are open to the public and will take place between 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. and be about various topics during the free lunch and learn.  Bring your own lunch, have your questions answered, and join the conversation!
