    Mahaska County Master Gardeners will hold Tomato Fest 2018 on Thursday, August 22 at 6:30 pm. Attendees will be learning about tomatoes including growing and tasting tomato varieties and tomato recipes.  It will be held by the garden at the Mahaska County Extension Office. Attendees with an heirloom or hybrid variety they wish to share are encouraged to bring a few tomatoes.  A minimum of one tomato should be washed and cut into sample size pieces.

    The event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend. Prior registration is NOT required, but appreciated.  If there is inclement weather, the event will be in the Auditorium.     This exciting 27-hole golf tournament will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Edmundson & Harvest Point golf coursesThis is one of Oskaloosa’s biggest golf tournaments. It’s a four-man, flighted tournament with prizes in all flights.

    During this time, the Lions run additional games outside of the pro shop at Harvest Point. Anyone can pay for golf balls (chances) to hit at a designated target on the driving range. The top three closest to the pin win! There will also be additional chances to win putting and chipping contests that pay out gift cards as prizes.

    The Lions are also excited to offer our famous Lion burgers that from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a freewill donation (suggested $5 per person). To register, contact Edmundson Golf Course.

    This course is free of charge but space is limited and pre-registration is required at www.iowadnr.gov. Anyone born after January 1, 1972 must attend a Hunter Education Course before they are allowed to purchase an Iowa hunting license. Any person who is 11 years old or older is eligible to attend the class. Participants must complete the online hunter education class prior to the field day. Participants must also bring their printed certificate to the field day.
