Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. although the last tickets for the day will be sold at 4 p.m. to allow enough time for the hour long self-guided tour. Individual and family memberships are available which allow for season-long free admission to the farm, museum, and special events.     “We Are Monsters” is a fun musical about the annual Monster Cabaret, a place where monsters are safe to freely express themselves without any humans around. Four humans sneak in and uncover vegetarian vampires and rock n’ roll werewolves. Featuring songs like “Werewolf Howl-Off” and “My Fangs Always Get In The Way,” this musical is a delightful romp about friendship and celebrating your unique qualities.

    Performances of “We Are Monsters” are at the George Daily Auditorium on May 10, 11, and 12 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults and are available by calling (641) 672-0799, online at www.georgedaily.org, or at the George Daily Auditorium box office.

Day of Caring is a fantastic opportunity for team-building. The event raises awareness of needs and services in the community while helping complete big projects all around the area.

    This is the first year the United Way is hosting a Youth Day of Caring event and is looking forward to making this an annual event to better engage the youth of Mahaska County. Either come and watch the chefs create masterpieces or bring along your Dutch oven, ingredients, recipe, and charcoal and whip up your own. Pre-made food will be welcomed. There will be plenty of food, fun, and fellowship. If you want to learn the basics about Dutch Oven cooking, join us at the main shelter house at 3 p.m. for a FREE Dutch Oven 101 class.
