Geri-Fit Seated Exercise

The Oskaloosa Public Library has been chosen as a beta site for Geri-Fit, a FREE seated exercise program for adults that are 65 and older.  The program is every Wednesday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., beginning January 16, 2019.  It will be in Room A/B on the 3rd Floor of the Library.  Registration is required.  To register stop at the 1st Floor Circulation desk of the Library. The program will run for 16 weeks.

Women of the community are invited to attend Thursday Morning Coffee Break at Oskaloosa 1st Christian Reformed Church, 815 North 11th Street. Each week includes coffee and snacks at 9:30 with community Bible study from 10 to 11 a.m. Call the church (641.673.4272) for more information. Square Foot Gardening and Seed Shopping

Come and learn about square foot gardening; a space saving, yield boosting garden technique and how to make the most of your seed purchases at this upcoming Garden Basic class Thursday January 17 at 6:30 pm at the Mahaska County Extension Auditorium, 212 North I Street Oskaloosa. This Garden Basics class is FREE and open to the public. Prior registration is NOT required by appreciated.

Garden Basics classes are Mahaska County Master Gardeners presenting on a variety of general gardening topics. Each one is an independent topic presented as a family friendly presentation. American Legion Corn Hole Tournament

It’s time warm up those arms and get up to the Legion for some family fun. Cost to enter is $5 person or $10 per team. Will be playing on a modified court and will play first team to 21 wins. Double elimination, First tournament will be draw your partner and the second tournament will be pick your partner. Everyone is welcome as this is a family event. Night 1 of the TruBank Winter Concert Series at the Oskaloosa Art Center featuring Adam Bruce presented by Oskaloosa Vision Center!

Adam Bruce is a Des Moines-based Prairie Soul singer and songwriter. Montage Memories - Postponed

Chief Mahaska Questers #505 invites the Oskaloosa Community to Penn Cental Mall at 2:00 to hear about the montage of historical items housed behind glass at the west end  of the mall.  Local residents John Jacob, Tom Stone and Emily Russell will present a program on and answer questions about the creation of the montage and the stories behind the displayed items.  Refreshments will be served.

Free Screen Day

January marks the start of a new year and Kinetic Edge Physical Therapy wants everyone to have the healthiest year ever. They are offering completely free screens for past clients, present clients, and loved ones of past and present clients who may be suffering from pain such as lower back, shoulder, knee, arthritis, headaches, neck sciatica or have problems walking.

The free screen will consist of a 20 minute one-on-one appointment with one of Kinetic Edge’s movement specialist. The expert will ask about the history of your problem and then test your strength and how well you move. After a thorough screening, they will give you a written copy of the cause of your pain or problem and a plan for successful treatment. Only 20 appointment spots available. Scheduling is required. Eggs & Issues 2019

The Oskaloosa Area Chamber & Development Group will again be sponsoring Eggs & Issues beginning January 12. This legislative forum, held the 2nd and 4th Saturdays through March, gives area residents an opportunity to learn more about state, county and local issues. The setting is informal and encourages those attending to personally meet and speak to their elected representatives. Eggs & Issues takes place at Smokey Row on the square in downtown Oskaloosa from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. MidWestOne Bank will provide complimentary coffee and George Daily Auditorium will be providing sound. Winter Carnival

Central United Methodist Church, is hosting a Winter Carnival on Sunday, January 27 from 2-4pm at Penn Central Mall. This FREE EVENT will have carnival games like a Cake Walk, Ring Toss, Toilet Bowl, etc. There will also be Bingo and Gaga Ball. Tom the Terrific Balloon Guy will be there along with inflatables and Lazer Tag. There will lots prizes. Popcorn will also be available.
