    The Oskaloosa Area Chamber & Development Group will again be sponsoring Eggs & Issues beginning January 12. This legislative forum, held the 2nd and 4th Saturdays through March, gives area residents an opportunity to learn more about state, county and local issues. The setting is informal and encourages those attending to personally meet and speak to their elected representatives. Eggs & Issues takes place at Smokey Row on the square in downtown Oskaloosa from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. MidWestOne Bank will provide complimentary coffee and George Daily Auditorium will be providing sound.     Rachelle Chase is returning to Book Vault February 23 at 1 p.m., to discuss her just released “Creating the Black Utopia of Buxton, Iowa.” Learn how coal mining town of Buxton came to be, complete with audio clips and rare photos of this amazing town where 5,000 African American and Caucasians lived, worked, and attended school together.

    The book talk is free and open to the public.

    Optional Tea and Tour of the McNeill Stone Mansion will be offered to the first 40 ticketed guests following the book talk. Tickets are $35 and include a copy of “Creating the Black Utopia of Buxton, Iowa”, tea, treats, a tour at the McNeill Stone Mansion, and a donation to the Mahaska County Historical Society.
